31st Annual High School
Shoot-Out Results
February 2, 2013
Dear Photo Shoot-Out entrant,
The results are in
for the 31st Annual High School Shoot-Out. The annual contest is sponsored by
the Texas A&M University-Commerce Third Floor Photographic Society. This is
a student organization of the Texas A&M University-Commerce Photography
Division, widely recognized as the best photography program in the
Southwest.
1,311 prints and 13 portfolios were entered this year from 12
high schools. The judges calling the shots were Amanda Chafe and Shelly
Cervantes. Both are professional photographers in the Dallas area. They are also distinguished Texas
A&M University – Commerce alumni.
Awards this year
are certificates for all the winners. The First Place Junior/Senior Portfolio
winner will receive a $500 scholarship should he/she decide to attend Texas
A&M University-Commerce as a student pursuing a major in photography. Again
this year, both winners in the Best of Show categories will receive $250 scholarships
if they decide to attend TAMU-C as students pursing degrees in photography.
The judges were
impressed by not only the quality the work but also the high level of design
and conceptualization involved in the imagery.
We wish to
congratulate all the winners and encourage those of you who did not make it
into the finals to keep making photographs!
